I think that's where the electronics (maybe a thermometer) went into the smoker, it's not big enough for a vent.

Actually that vent was for thermometer.

We haven't made the model 15 in about 20 years, but we still have replacement heating elements and parts with the exception of the thermostat.

What's amazing is the quality of glue used on the door stickers. You can tell this smoker has been used and weathered, but there's still a piece of some original warning sticker hanging on right there on the door.

My only other question is the placement of the smoker tray in the bottom. It appears to just sit on the element supports, with the wood going in the tray above. other than that, it seems quite straightforward.
