Hi All, I have had some pretty good smoked turkey tails, but they are hard to find reliably (even fresh). I found no results on searching the Poultry forum. Anyone done them? I'm guessing 4 - 5 hours with some simple rub, but I thought I'd see if anyone has had success. A little pre-dinner treat for Thanksgiving. Thanks!

The smoked tails I've found locally (a Shoprite in NJ if you can believe it) are really large, like from the turkeys they get 3 lb drumsticks from - like in Andy's video. I've had them split and roasted in a hot oven just to crisp them up - fantastic. I'm going to use some I just bought to season collards next week. I've also had non-smoked tails deep fried, another devilish delight. There isn't much actual meat involved, but boy are they tasty! A lot of cartilage and fat, but delicious. I can't wait to find fresh ones to smoke in the AQ.
