PG500 control panel question?

I am planning on ordering a PG500 very soon and was wondering if anyone on here knows if the control panel on the 500 is similar to the FEC 100? The FEC100 panel needs to be warmed up in cold temps to be be able to set to the temp you want. This is inconvenient but worth the trouble but as often as I would use the 500 as a grill I don't know if I would want to deal with that as I grill more than smoke? Would appreciate info from anyone using a PG500??

I've never had any issues with the PG1000 control pannel (same as the PG500)... but I have had my FEC100 "freeze" up on me.

On the FEC100 a hot towel for a few seconds will usually do the trick.

Thanks for the info Nordy. I have always used a hair dryer but will try the towel trick some time. Just concerned that as often as I would use the PG500 it will be a pain in the behind? I will check with CS.

For what it's worth, I've used my FEPG in very cold temperatures frequently and have never had any problem with the control panel. Works perfectly hot or cold.

Used my 1000 at 25 below. worked perfectly. The FEC 100 had to be brought into the garage to get started. After it starts out it goes to the patio.

Seems like colder it gets the better the smoke. Little longer not much else. Works with good equipment,
