Closest thing, I've had to smoked crappie would be smoked largemouth bass, and it was pretty tastey.

It's been a long time since I had it, and I didn't do the smoking so I'm afraid I can't help you much on the "how to and what fors".

But if I were you I would scale, and fillet and give a small batch a trial smoke using a mild wood.

Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my butt to keep!

If God did not intend for us to eat animals, why did He make them out of meat?

My Dad used to smoke crappie and catfish. As far as I recall, he just tossed it in the smoker with some wood.

I agree with GeyserQ, start modestly, then add fancy stuff as you go.

Let us know how it goes. I was going to say that we have lots of crappie in Oklahoma, then I noticed that you are from OKC, so I guess you know that.
