I live in Edmonton, Alberta, and I can't find any wood for my model 55. Just those bags of sawdust at the local hardware. If anyone has info on where I can get some nice chunks of cherry or apple let me know. Thanks. By the way, I love my 55. It's serious fun.
Duke.

Mountain man,

Here is a place:

You can also run a search in Google for certain woods that meet your fancy. Good luck.... Smiler

Doesn't Cookshack sell those big boxes of wood chunks they give away free with a smoker purchase?

Someone on the forum, not long ago, was offering wood for the cost of shipping- pecan or oak I believe. Might want to look over the last couple weeks of posts.

Thanks for the input .I'll check all avenues. My biggest concern is shipping.I can't find any Canadian distributors of wood chunks.

No agri issue, a financial issue. A box of wood @ $20 US, plus freightplus exchange rate=$42 Canadian. I guess I'll have to make a trip south of the border to pick up some decent wood.

Click on the link 5 posts up. There's a guy willing to give away pecan (I believe) for the price of shipping.

Geez, they have to have a Wal-Mart there.. they have been everyplace I've been, including Mexico. WM sells chunks of wood in bags. That's where I get most of the 'diferent' woods I use.. when I'm not using oak.

i would love to get my hands on some apple chunks. i been using pellets. good stuff, but dont last long. one of my customers just chopped down a pecan tree a immense proprotions, supposedly, i am gonna get a big chunk of it. man, i sure would love to chop it and sell it....
i just got my shipment of mesquite. i buy 50 lb box, for 25 bucks, no shipping fee.
but this particular batch, is full of bugs! not something i want in my restaurant. good thing, it never came inside. we chop it outside. crazy looking critters, kinda like a cross between a cockroach, and a cricket, i dont know it they have stingers, and i aint gonna find out, i goto town with the hammer and hatchet.
