My son Paul recently found the art of Plank Grilling.

He's still learning but is having fun doing so.

The first time he did it, I came home to see smoke billowing out of our gas grill. Nobody seemed concerned but me. The boneless chops turned out great. He did salmon last night.

The planks and the recipes can be found at: www.northwoodssmokeofmn.com

Paul found them in Brainard while vending pork at the Blues & BBQ with Smokingman of Fargo [Hi Craig, see you when you come down for Vikings training camp! Mankato Ribfest is Aug 5-7].

Good Luck! Roger

Hi Roger,

Paul and I had a blast doing the Brainerd event. I remember him buying the planks. Amy bought her dad some wine barrel chips and a cast iron smoker from the same people. Nice folks.

I am going to try and make it that weekend. I love cooking on your FE 2000.

I have some awesome pork you should try...ok, never mind, I got it from you. Big Grin

We'll have to try the Carmelized Muskrat on a plank recipe.

It calls for a fresh road-kill rat, I'm wondering if I could go down to the creek and trap one instead.

Hogfarmer, You know that aged and tire cubed roadkill is always better than fresh kill.

Roger,

Well then it is settled. I will pick up some (or make) roadkill on the way down.
