My wife and I went to a TGI Fridays last Thursday and we had their JACK DANIELS GLAZED RIBS. The menu said Fridays adds pineapple and honey to the Jack Daniel's sauce. In our opinion, the ribs were probably steamed then placed on a grill. The sauce was not bad. Anyone have a similar recipe. My wife thinks they used crushed pineapple and added honey. Also, does anyone sauce their ribs in their CS the last hour of cooking?

Try topsecret recipes, recipe goldmine, for the clones.

Many large groceries ,Sams Club, etc sell it bottled.

Google will also probably pull it out for you.

Nothing wrong with saucing your ribs the last hour.

Remember that high sugar sauce will scorch at long or higher temps.

I've used one of the above websites or something similar to get the recipe. It tastes quite similar. I use it on chicken.

Hi All,

This is kinda of an old post but I thought it would be interesting to resurrect it regarding when to sauce ribs...

There is a rib joint in Chicago called "Carson's". Here they violate the principle rule of not putting sauce on the ribs by slathering the ribs with sauce before they even put them on the grill/smoker. Then they continue to baste the ribs with sauce throughout the cooking process.

So I tried it ensuring that I kept the temps low in my smoker. Surprisingly the ribs didnt burn and they came out great. I think a couple of people tried the method here on the forum a few years ago and reported good results too.

Chris Carson was kind enough to publish their method on their website at Carson's How To page. They were featured on Food Network show and it was interesting to watch.

We had a few posts back in history on this subject as well:

Sacreligious Rib Challenge

and

To Sauce or Not to Sauce...THAT is the question!

Might be worth a try again...

Regards,

Hi Tom,

I forgot about Grant being in September...
provided we arent swamped with hurricanes
like last year. We suffered about $10,000
in damage to house and car.

But Grant sounds good...wonder who will take it
this year? HomeBBQ.com, Dr BBQ, Florida Boys,
Rock N Roll BBQ? I think the contest is getting
bigger each year!

Regards,
Preston D

Thanks Tom, I went to Recipe Goldmine and used the following recipe.

Jack Daniel's Grilling Sauce
Posted by WingsFan91 at recipegoldmine.com 3/23/2002 7:22 pm

Source: Jack Daniel's Wood Smoking Chips, back of the bag.

1/2 cup pineapple juice
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons ginger
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup Jack Daniel's Whiskey

Combine all ingredients and mix well. Dip meat in sauce and place on grill over hot coals. When meat is turned, brush with sauce. Grill to desired degree of doneness. Just before meat is removed from grill, brush again with sauce.

We served this with the ribs. We did not baste the ribs with it. We also tried a second recipe but it was only rated ok.

Hi there...

Grant Florida is a small town on the southern eastern coast of Florida a tad south of Melbourne. Grant is more known for their Seafood Festival, but the Barbecue contest is getting some more attention now too.

Its a slightly smaller more informal Kansas City barbecue type of contest. The best time to go is on Friday afternoon and Friday night. I have found that by saturday the contestants have their game face on and are really very focused on their preps for getting their submissions in. Friday they are a bit more social...

Maybe I will see you there...

In regards, to the sauce I hope some others try the sauce but also try the Carson's method. I have not tried it in a Cookshack.

Regards,
Preston D
