Search, and ye shall find...

Having said that, here's one that I really like...

Sweet And Spicy Rub

none

2 tablespoons butter; or margarine
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon sugar

In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Stir in all ingredients EXCEPT sugar. Remove from heat and then add sugar. Cool and rub onto meat. Makes 1/4 cup, enough for 4 pounds of meat. Posted to the BBQ List by Carey Starzinger on Jul 19, 1996.

Yield: 1 serving

Several rubs listed here. Some good discussion too. There's a bunch more hanging around. You'll just have to do some more searching.

Hope this helps...

Someone was collecting all the "rubs" from the forum, but that's a long project. When they get it I'll let everyone know.

Probably one of two things. Change the words your using. I did "rib rub" and found 264 responses. They all won't be recipes, but some of them will be. Play with some different word searches.

Also, make sure you select "all open forums". The default search only searches the forum you are in, not all forums.

Hope that helps.

Try mixing some salt and pepper, like you would season a steak.

Add some brown sugar, for bark and sweet.

Taste it.

If you have a balance, and you apply it lightly and evenly-you have a rib rub.

Twice as much sugar ,as salt, often suits folks.

If you want to engage more taste receptors, add a little red and white pepper.

A touch of any other one spice will make it your rib rub.

Remember, there is not much meat to bone,so don't over season.

If your ribs have been injected with salt solution,go easy on salt in your rub.

I like your idea Tom, start with some basics and make our own.

Sounds like we need a Rub 101...oh wait, that's on my LIST that I never have time to work on...

This is not a short term answer, but for the long smoke...I HIGHLY recomend Paul Kirks Championship Barbecue Sauces. It is GREAT! Sauces, rubs, mops, Go to amazion.com and get it comming!

I have been using a dusting of Dr BBQ's Bonesmokers Crank it Up pepper blend under my usual rub for a little extra kick. More than a dusting definatly cranks up the burn factor several degrees. Getting carried away shaking can cause lips to go numb during the eating process too... so use carefully. Big Grin A super way to make some hot wings for a late nite snack.
