I am looking for a style of BBQ Sauce that my great grandmother used to make. She was raised in West Virginia (family was from NC) and made a Q sauce that was "White" not yellow as in a mustard sauce. My dad thinks it had broth, vinegar, brown sugar, red pepper. Mom thinks it was a thickened sauce. Is this NC style Q sauce? If so, does anybody have a good recipe that I can try while they are temporarily relocated here from all those hurricanes in Florida. Thanks!
Mark

This is common around north AL and is used traditionally on chicken.

Big Bob Gibson has won some prizes with it an sells it on line.

Alabama White Barbecue Sauce
This is a finishing sauce and should be applied at the last moments of cooking or it will break down. Great for dipping.

1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup cider vinegar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 1/2 tablespoons black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne

Mix ingredients together and refrigerate.

All the recipes on the net, were they copped from this gentleman or is the AWS an old recipe?

One site said hes left out the key ingredient is that a wives tale?
