Maybe some of the CA guys will log in,as it could be tough in your neck of the woods. You might want to google the CA bbq assoc,and the souther Ca bbq assoc. They have forums,and hopefully someone will be near you.

Harlee, its a big state  , but up North I have had some challenges too, never found any at Costco and I keep looking (good source for butt - just put one in an hour ago for tomorrow- and ribs). No luck at Safeway either. I'm in SF and I have to go to either at a yuppie grocery store like Tower or a local bucher shop in the city. Kills me because I'm cheap and it ain't. Good luck,

I live in Sacramento and seen briskets at Sam's Club and at Smart & Final.

Yes, Smart and Finals I have visited have briskets, but all are "select" grade or in packages with no marking. Although the frozen rib-eyes and New York strips are prime grade and very good.
Just trying to due a decent job...
