Hello everyone,
I live in california and I am having a hard time finding a whole brisket. I checked Cosco and all that they have is trimmed, not whole.

Maybe some of the CA guys will log in,as it could be tough in your neck of the woods.

You might want to google the CA bbq assoc, and the souther Ca bbq assoc.

They have forums, and hopefully someone will be near you.

Good Q 2 Ya,Tom.

Harlee, its a big state Wink, but up North I have had some challenges too, never found any at Costco and I keep looking (good source for butt - just put one in an hour ago for tomorrow- and ribs). No luck at Safeway either.
I'm in SF and I have to go to either at a yuppie grocery store like Tower or a local bucher shop in the city. Kills me because I'm cheap and it ain't.
Good luck,

Greg

In Southern CA (San Diego county) you can find whole briskets at Sam's. That's where I get most of my smoking meats. I recall seeing them in Smart and Final as well but the prices were slightly higher.
Once upon a time I took a trip north to a SuperWalmart. We do not have one in SD county at this time. I did not buy a brisket that trip but the butcher claimed they had whole ones. Perhaps this could be verified by others.
I too would be interested in other sources.

Yes, Smart and Finals I have visited have briskets, but all are "select" grade or in packages with no marking.

Although the frozen rib-eyes and New York strips are prime grade and very good.

Just trying to due a decent job...
