Has anyone had experience with the quality of Wallmart Brisket? I saw some today. They were Packer cut but are "Standard" grade and not "Choice". They appeared to have a good fat cap on. They were priced at $1.18/lb. although a sale sign indicated they were supposed to be $.98.

I think some out there have no issue with Select vs. Choice. I do however. Selects are usually inconsistent in quality. That said, you can sometimes get a good deal and HEY, at .98 a pound, that's a pretty good deal. Can you not find Choice, then go with the select and see if you like it.

If you know what you are hunting for and the meat manager will let you look through a bunch, you may find a few choices to suit you.

Like Smokin'says,"at the price they can't be all bad"

Sam's had raised the price on single choice packers from $1.09 to $1.18 this week.

Wow $1.18 and $.98 a pound, I don't have a Super WM yet, and Sams is about 70 or so miles away. I look through the local supermarkets and the only thing they have is corned beef points and flat cuts. I stopped at a local butcher shop and what they had was trimmed of all fat and $3.89 a pound.

MN Que,
As Tom mentioned, a quick talk with the Meat Dept. associate will probrably get you what you're looking for.
I think you will find that someone is getting to the "choice" briskets before you do.
Keep in mind that the only diffrence will be the small logo on the package......and of course the price....I have been to several Wal-Mart stores here in Arkansas and they all mix their "Choice" with their "Select".
Good luck and tell us how it turns out.
