I need some advise. How many butts do I to feed 100 people ? Or what do they normally figure per pound per person ?

Thanks for your help.

In a nut shell.....12 - 6-8lbs pork butts, factor in 50% Seinfield shrinkage factor for serving weight.....roughly 35lbs (cooked)

Lots more than just the meat, so check the link he gave.

Easiest way to figure Jeff.

Like Dan said, 50% shrinkage.

Figure out portion size (4,5,6 oz).

Using Dan's he gave you 35 lbs cooked, that's 560 oz and that divided by 100 people would be 5.6 oz per person.

So, if you went 8oz per person (1/2 lb) and 100 people you would need 800 oz cooked weight.
