I have not checked the parts numbers at Radio Shack for current accuracy.

Item # 274-289C is the 3/32"[2.5mm] that fit most models.The female should be hanging beside him.

Regular phone wire is good enough,but if you buy the multiwire,it is easier to add more probe monitoring.[four wire is common]

You will experience a 2 � drop in the temp reading using the homemade cord.It matters not ,if it is 10 ft,or 100 ft.

You can check your new readings using the standard ice/boiling water method.
