Smokette should arrive this week. Really excited about doing real BBQ brisket. Pretty much impossible to find here in Los Angeles. I consider myself a novice BBQ'er, however can make chicken, ribs, and tri-tip on my Weber better than most of my friends and family have ever tasted. Granted, they haven't tasted much. I cure and smoke a mean salmon. That said, I'm just hoping that I can make good brisket and pork butt in this machine. I like the idea of overnight cooking.....hopefully this unit allows me to set and go to bed without worrying about it. I'll keep you posted......

Sounds like the Cookshack is what you need. My family and friends are amazed at my abilities with it! Tickles me. My Father-in-law says my BBQ is just as good as a local caterer and he has been doing it for 40 years and wins at contests. You will like the simplicity. I have had mine a month and smoke something at least 3 times a week.
You can also get briskets at Smart and Final. If they don't have them in stock, ask the manager to order one. Also, Albertson's (when not on strike) and Food 4 Less have briskets (I think this depends on the store, some do, some don't).

Tom - you are absolutely right. You must live in CA. Some Albertsons do carry them, and yes, I did hit Smart and Final last weekend and picked up an 11 pounder. They has a bunch of them, $1.55lb. thx!
