My brother asked if we could put some goat in the smoker. Went to the internet and learned a bit about cabrito and chevon, but was overwhelmed with info about goat cheese. Anyone bought fresh goat over the internet? I think the ribs sound especially interesting.

I've eaten goat a time or two, never smoked though. It's a very lean meat, not much fat at all, so I imagine you would treat it much like venison. It's probably very easy to get too dry, possibly tough. Someoe may chime in here. If not, check some of the recipes on venison.
Just my $0.02 Good luck! |

Young/kid goat is a little like lamb and lends itself to quick grilling. Older goat is often sold as bone in chunks ,by the bag ,to use in curries/stews. The goat marketing companies, have a number of innovative ways to utilize/get rid of goat. From one of my heroes,Dave DeWitt of Fiery Foods Magazine, here are some more approaches. Goat |
