Seeing in the dark

While I realize this is not a grill forum, I'm sure there are a few of you who do use a grill.
I tend to use my cookers all year long and as the seasons move towards winter I find I'm grilling later and later into darkness. My grill has lights but I'm finding that with age I'm not seeing as well as I once did and I would like more light on the subject.

Can anyone recommend any good portable outdoor flood lights that are appropriate for a grilling environment?

I put a big ol security light on a pole outside the back door and it is on a switch beside the door. It is the type that comes on at dusk and off at dawn. It has a mercury something or nuther bulb and is very bright. It is 20' off the ground and plenty bright. Just like daylight in the backyard at night.

Get you one of those head lamps that hikers have. Really. Put it on your head and the light points to where you're looking.

I have a 8X8 EZ Up canopy over my off-set and grill. What works great is some ROPE LIGHTS, 32 feet long strung around all four sides. They're cheap and covered in plastic tubing.....works great.

Like your idea SO.. I bought a headlamp at Home De Pot this weekend to do some reconstruction in my garage.. Hadn't thought of using it for Q'ing.. cuz more often than not.. my Q times extend till after dark at this time of year.

I bought the lED light set that has three or four settings from dual spots to flood's to red LED's

If you 'really' want to see, buy a set of the contractor lights on a stand. Not super pretty, but they will light up your whole area...halogen bulbs, metal cages, weatherproof, good light.

For 'looks' I use a fluorescent, battery-operated one that attaches to the grill lid handle...Brookstone's I think...and it lights up just the grill.
