First off, I would like to thank all of the folks who post to these forums. The forums have helped me in making my decision and look like a great place for support. Excellent job everyone!
I am thinking on the CS 008 and was going to go with the stand and a cover but after viewing the setup forum found RichH's setup to be pretty cool and I think I would like to tackle that project. Does anyone have any suggestion for me? Any other thoughts on setups?

To err is human, to smoke is divine.

Suggestion #1: Order the 08. NOW!! You'll never regret it, I garontee.
Suggestion #2: Cook on it first to get a feel for the configuration you think you'll need.
Suggestion #3: See Suggestion #1.

Now go for it. Lots of help available on this forum if you need it so fear not. Oh, and by the way, the learning curve is practically nil. I'm living proof of that.

Welcome Kimo!!
I built a shed just slightly larger than my 008 and it sits on my deck year round. I just open the door to the shed, open the smoker throw in some food and wood and shut everything up and turn it on. My only regret is that I didn't make it taller so that I didn't have to bend over as much to put stuff into my 08.

If God did not intend for us to eat animals, why did He make them out of meat?

I have this idea, which I have not tried, that if you build the shed with some room at the top, and a shelf that has holes of some sort in it, that you could cold-smoke on that shelf while the smoker is hot-smoking something else. Might be something to consider since you are building the enclosure from scratch anyway.

Buy it and get to using it. You'll have time to sort out the shed and sometimes just using it, you'll see how you want to improve your own setup.

Donna, interesting idea.
