I'm noticing lately on my model 50 that the heating element stays on, even when I have the dial set to OFF. I have to unplug the unit.

Haven't noticed if it's always been that way, but I really don't believe it has. I've had it for, what, 5 years? And in the winter it gets pretty cold, so I would have noticed, I would think.

Anyone else seeing this in their cookers?

Not good, sounds like a short. Off should mean off. Like drhys said, call CS (and get your tickets too).

My bet is that it is the thermostat! I had the same problem and replaced the thermostat and now works great. Called customer service and had the replacement in 2 days. Cookshack service has never let me down!
