Using a Smokette on Auto Battery Power

Can't help much on the battery powered Smokette

Are you planning on running this off a power converter? From 12 volt to 120 volt?
I'm not sure how lomg you could run it without draining your battery. I would think you would be better off to let the car run, unless you take some jumper cables and have a friend close by. Have fun.

I certainly would use your car battery, you'll drain it and might not be able to drive home.

Haven't heard of someone doing this, but what we need to determine is what load the CS is pulling. The FE's do well on battery's because their main drain only last the first three min when the igniter is hot.

The heating element in the CS doesn't run constant, but it's on and off and you need to find out the load when that's running. You'll have to buy an inverter to handle that load.

I'd call CS today and ask them for the specs. I'm sure Tony or someone can tell you the load specs and we can help you from there.

Check the inverter. Most discourage use with any heating element.

Get a generator. All our neighbors down here have em. We might even loan ya one if ya come git it.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I didn't end up bringing it as I discovered a lot of pulled pork in my freezer that I had packaged with my food sealer.

I'm going to take your suggestions for planning on my next camping trip, and I'll let you know what happens.

It would be interesting how well it works. I've thought about taking my smokette places, most have power, but really being out in the off grid woods does have some merit.

Sam's has a 800 watt, online only for less than $57.
