I had my father rewire my outside plug so it was not a GFI until he did this it kept tripping. I plug it in direct no extension cord to cause problems.

I set mine on the outside porch where it is out of the weather (won't get rained on).

I put a large pan under the smoker to catch what ever moist grease might drip when I open the door. It is easier than cleaning off the concrete every time.

Be sure to poke a hole in the foil you line the bottom with if not it can't drain properly and will be a problem.
