Does anyone have a SM053? What is the difference between this and the newer ones? We have an opportunity to purchase one and wonder if we would be better off buying new. The price is great--but it liiks rather used.

Did you mean a SM055? If so, replacement parts are readily available from Cookshack.

If you order in a new model it will look rather used as soon as you finish seasoning it for the 1st time.
I'd make sure it works before buying. Then like CT_Q says.......parts are available. For piece of mind you could always replace the racks, heating element, and thermostat. It just depends on how much you are paying for it I suppose.
Either way.....new or used in good working order....you'll love it!
