Cookshack 08 question

My 08 is very well seasoned. I have noticed that in some spots the black coating is starting to flake off/curl. Do I need to scrape this off? It's mostly on the door and the rack holders. It's not getting on the food or causing a problem that I can see. Just curious.

I have always used a plastic putty knife to lightly scrape off the loose coating. Then wipe with a soft paper towel.

I continually get plastic "fake" credit cards from some bank wanting my business.. I use them to scrape the flakey stuff off the top and sides so nothing drops on the meat. Sometimes I use one of those plastic "brillo pads" that are really softer pot cleaners you see at all the super markets. That works too.. but they aren't as easy to clean as the old credit card types.

BTW, don't scape itto death.. just get the flakey stuff off and wisk it out.
