Hopper Removal

I need to replace the temp probe on my FEC100.
Ive removed the 6 bolts and have the hopper supported but I can only pull it back about 2 inches. Not enough room to get a screwdriver to probe access plate.
There are no wires hanging up preventing me from moving it at this point and I have disconnected the igniter but do I need to disconnect the auger at the sheer pin in order to pull the hopper further away from the cooker?
