Whew...long day today!

So it was a Memphis Barbecue Network whole hog contest in N. Haverhill, NH. Nine MBM teams and MaxQue as one of 7 "backyard" division team competing in a rib comp. We took 1st place with perfect scores (10) in the 4 MBN judging categories. It's been a good daySmiler

I'd like to give a call out to Coach, SmokinOkie, Ribdog and Tom for some inspiration, a few tips and tricks which pushed me over the finish line today. Hat's off to you gentlemen!
To those of you who've considering a comp, I highly suggest you give one a try. I can't tell you how much fun they are. Yup, it takes some work, tight organizational skills and a game plan to pull off but your learning curve will escalate rapidly.

In my case, having a "backyard" contest within an hours drive was a perfect way to test the waters. You need to enter all categories for Grand Champ or Grand Reserve but you can enter ANY contest cooking one meat and take 1st place in that category.

Anyone who's got an itch to try, I'm happy to answer any questions.
