I was in a Lowes store last Friday looking at the new "oilless" turkey fryers and happened to see a wirelesss remote thermometer for $9.99. It's made by Oregon Scientific and has all the bells and whistles that the more expensive units have. Here's a link to it at Lowes:
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&pro...tail=desc&lpage=none I bought one and used it on a "beercan" chicken Sunday and it worked so well I may get a couple more. |

The Lowes link offers the unit for $39.95
Perhaps you got a discontinued model? Thanks. dick |

At 9.95 it's disposable, so I'd get it, try it and if it works, then buy more.

I guess the $9.99 price is only in certain areas. When I go to the website it says the $9.99 is the "local" price. I'm about 20 miles south of Daytona Beach, FL.
I'm out the door on my way to buy more. Nice Christmas gifts. |

The Lowe's locator shows it for $18 here by Melbourne.
They closed out Sunbeams,years ago,for $5. Bought all they had for gifts. Good Q 2 Ya,Tom. |

For some reason Lowes website won't let me check the price of this unit at any other Lowes except in my home state of Florida. But in Florida I've found Lowes selling it for prices ranging between $9.99 and $31.98 depending on the store location.
If anybody wants one I'd recommend checking several different Lowes in your state. Good Luck. |

Oregon Scientific is a very good brand.
You can still get Sunbeam and Accu-Rite at wallyworld. WHOOO PIGS SOOOEEEEEE !!! |

The problem I have with any of these units are the probes. I have bought so many different brands and the probe after a few cooks just wear out.
I wish someone would invent one with a wireless probe that you could put in the meat and not have any wires. (Maybe Someday) |

The link shows $39.97 in NE Ohio.
************************** Jim... Keep the Door Closed. Took me awhile to learn that, But I Got it Now! |

Shows $39.95 out here in CA also ....... :=((
Too Bad ....9.95 would have been a great deal !! Since the thread is on thermometers, anyone out there use a dual probe type ? One for the meat/one for the oven ? I'd appreciate any opinions you might have. Smokin' - not quite sure of the etiquette around here - did I just hijack the thread ??? |

Check the Find feature at page top.
Try Maverick,or dual probe therm. Maverick is the standard,if you really need one. Should give you a few years of threads. Good Q 2 Ya,Tom. |
||||

Thanks Tom ..... Maverick is the one I was checking out
