I am just curious as to why there is no separate welcome section for new members other than sending a PM in the newest members area. A community howdy seems friendlier than a PM. Does that make sense to anyone but me?

When I see a new post from a new forum member...indicated by "Posts 1" in the lower left, I general shout out a welcome.
There's also a sticky'd "Introduce yourself" thread in the Open Forum.
Perhaps SmokinOkie could arrange a welcome section?

Hey Sarge sounds like a good plan to we'uns. I always try to say hi to newbies when I spot one. Thanks for the reminder.
I'll give the front office a call on it. Also going to mention the forum could be prominent in the banner rather than under customer service. Over at another forum I have PM'd some folks looking for info and the forum on these smokers.
Ok. Talked to the front office. Forum is prominently shown on the home page. How I have missed it all these years I cannot say. Live and learn.

"featured" forums are always at the top of the individual forum.
Two helpful ones.
In the OWNERS forum, look for the thread at the top "New Owner? Have Questions? Start Here:

Basically it's a point to where to start.
It also points to the 6 "featured" topics at the top of the Open Forum with topics like "glossary of terms" ; Introduce yourself, Lessons for new users, etc, etc.

A Mother's duty is to scold when necessary. I have been known to "tout the virtues of the competition from time to time based upon my knowledge and experience. I have also exposed the down side. Full disclosure and honesty at all times.
