I am a newbie to smokin' BBQ and I am in the final stages of research before buying a smoker. When comparing the CS 009 vs. the Smokin' Tex Pro 1400, they visually are almost identical. The 1400 however comes std. with 5 shelf positions, plus 4 grills and 1 seafood grill, whereas the CS on has 3 shelf positions and 3 grills std. The 1400 is a bit larger (38 lbs. of meat vs. 20-25 for the CS) and it has a 700w element vs. a 500 in the CS, and both have the same warranty. One is for sale at Cabela's and one is for sale at Bass Pro. The 1400 is $579 and the 009 is $565.
I'd love to hear your thoughts... Sambo |

Follow this link to the charcoal store to read the side by side comparisons with pics, and then decide for yourself.

WOW!!! Thanks ezgoin, that tells me everything I needed to know. On paper it looked like the Smokin Tex was the only way to go, but once you look under the hood...There really isn't much of a comparison at all!
I'll be picking up my CS Smokette before Father's Day! |

Take it from a ST owner, you can not go wrong buying the CS despite the price difference. Customer Service and this forum are worth every extra penny you might spend on the CS!!!

If you hurry Cabela's has free shipping. You can not get a better dealer or smoker for that!
