Thanks for the compliment. Glad to hear that it worked out for you. With a little forethought, you can do a lot with scraps.

Hint - I cut the top off of an empty cardboard milk carton and keep in the freezer to store the scraps of vegetables that are being trimmed and used for another purpose (onion and celery ends, herb stems, etc). When it's stock making time, I'm good to go.
