If this is an FEC 500,you might want to go down on the FEC forums,or the pros only.

I believe the number used to loosely mean the total max weight, with considerations for shape of items, etc.

Call sales and John will talk over the loads with you.

Fast Eddy would ordinarily pick up the question, but he is probably traveling to the Lakeland,Fl cookoff this week.

They do not monitor these forums.
Vern, the most I have had in mine at one time is 400lbs. And I could have put maybe 40-45 more lbs. That is because of the size of the butts I was cooking.

I had room to the front and rear of each butt on the trays. If the butts had been larger, or shaped a little different, I could have easily gotten the 500lbs in.

The meat I think will conrol what you can get in.

I've got a cook in april, and we will be doing 800lbs at one time, and I will fill it up all the way that night.

But I'll have two other cookers working with me, and about 10 helpers.

Go with the FEC's you will be happy with the food and the cookers.
