With the great recipes posted on this forum, along with other great BBQ sites, is there any need / reason for me to purchase any of the highly rated BBQ books out there.

I have a new Amerique due any day, and I know that I could / will stay busy experimenting for the next year, with just the information on this forum.

Thanks very much

I agree with Trucky1008 as Paul Kirk's Championship Barbeque Sauces is an excellent book. I've made dozens of my own sauces and rubs to great accolades from my friends and family. Paul Kirk's has helped me create many of them.

I also enjoy experimenting off his and other recipes. A litle trial and error is fun. Jack Daniels has seemed to find its way into a few of my sauces. Cool
I guess it all depends on what you want to get out of the book. I tend to read cookbooks to get ideas and inspiration, rather than to follow the set recipes. So, a lot of times, I like a book with a few anecdotes thrown in with the recipes and techniques. In that genre, "Peace Love and BBQ" and a couple of Dr. BBQ's book's come to mind. Smoke and Spice isn't much on the anecdotes, but is a great book just the same. A really fun read that is no longer in print but occasionally available used is "I'm Glad I Ate When I Did Cause I'm Not Hungry Now" by Sam Higgins.

Pags,
Jack daniels has found it's way into a few of my sauces and also has helped me get sauced Razzer In the short time that I have been involved in this smoking thing, I have found that this forum along with a little imagination have created some fantastic smoked products. I'm all about researching and using the experience of others, but take a walk on the wild side and experiment.
