CLEANING THE TEMP PROBE? | Cookshack

My amerique temp probe mounted to the back inside of the smoker is covered by a small hood.
Should i CLEAN the probe?
Also, What about a pressure wash on the inside
say once a year for bacteria?
Will it hurt the insulation?

GRILLDADDY: the probe is well shielded by its hood, i try to keep the hood wiped down often. most here use a plastic type putty knife to scrape the top and sides to remove particals. any greese should be removed to keep the bacteria out. pressure washing, i think.is not necessary. hope this helps. paul

Like Paul said, just a little scrape every now and then with a plastic scraper. After every smoke for cleaning, I use paper towels and vinegar on the inside. It clean and stirilizes at the same time......

Never use a power washer, you want that BLACK look on the inside....

Just FYI... Vinegar is a wonderful cleaner/cleanser but is by no means a sterilizing agent.
