Looked at the cookshack rib rack, but just can't envision how you stack the ribs on there. As for the extra shelves, I found some cooling racks at a few restaurant supply stores for about $3 a piece although they're only 10x18. Cal sent me a PM with a link for a three slot side rails for the SM020 at the charcoal store and while checking it out I found their rib racks. 14x18 and will hold 7 full slabs per rack. Only bad part is the description says (ribs not included) Frowner

Might pick one up to try out.
So which rib rack is better... no idea. The ribs fit on the cookshack rack the same way they do on the charcoal store - They sit in a Vertical Plane rather than flat on a rack. The cookshack one will also hold 7 slabs. The only difference is the charcoal store racks have more metal making the rack a "box" where the cookshack one has the angled pieces on each side.

I agree the cookshack ones look a little confusing in the pictures (optical illusion), but they work just the same and I've been happy with them.

One more thing on adding shelves... with three shelves you are adding capacity to reach only about 3 slabs... with the racks you get 7 and 1)its cheaper than buying the racks and extra grates, and 2) all the ribs sit in a more "temperature" neutral location, rather than some being closer to the fire box etc.

Just my two cents.

SM020 will cook ribs well either way!

OK, now that I looked at the pic of the cookshack rib rack more closely, it is an optical illusion... I can now see the seven slots going front to back.

So then I have a question for both Nordy & BluesBQ, does the rack go on top of the existing rack? Or does it slide into the side rails replacing an existing rack?

Not sure about the Cookshack rack, but the Charcoal Store rack slides into the rails, replacing an existing rack.
One of the racks at the charcoal store is the cookshack rack. The other is a charcoal store rack. They BOTH slide into the normal rails on a SM020. They will also work while sitting on top of another "normal" rack/shelf.

I don't have a picture of my cookshack loaded with ribs... but here is one with kids books!

Hope those at least give you an idea. I usually just slide this rack in fully loaded, but you can put the rack in first then load it.

I'll take some more with my next round of ribs...
