So... I found a used Amerique model 66 and it has a different control panel on the top making it look more like a washing machine than a smoker... ANYWAY I've been using a Weber Smokey Mountain Grill but want something that I don't have to babysit so I can go play on the lake all day while my food is cooking. What would be a good price on this? They say it's in great condition and based on what I can tell from the pics it looks pretty good... Are there any issues with this particular model since it looks older than the new ones on this website?

Thanks in Advance...

The only thing that comes to mind, is the very first year they made them they equipped them with the 750 watt element and it didn't work very well. They quickly changed to the 1000 watt element and it worked much better.

They have a manufacturer date stamped on them, you can call CS and ask when they started putting the new element in them.

They hold their value very well, even the older style.

Hope this helps a little.
Any input helps... thanks for responding! Yeah... I've not decided actually what I want as far as an electric goes but I DO like the convenience of that and although there is a two year warranty; like I'm sure everyone else, I'm having a hard time spending that much on a smoker... heck I could purchase several cheap digital smokers and almost never run out of warranty for what one of these costs... guess I'll keep reading the forums...
That's what mine looks like and it came with a 1000 watt element.
I'd agree with Cal. Call Cookshack with the Manufacture date and serial numbers for more information on the unit
While you're at it ask if they have any reconditioned AmeriQues that'll give you a better idea what a used one is worth.
I just bought a reconditioned 260. I got a few freebies with it and a full warranty the same as if it were a brand new unit for $1000 less than new price.
On the other hand I sold my 10 year old Smokette for what I paid for it new.
If you check out other forums for the cheaper digital smokers you'll learn real quick just how fast the warranties run out and the support stops.
Offer the seller $900 for it and if he accepts try not to jump up and down where he can see you
