I've just spent several hours reading postings on the forum about the different models. I have used an old electic Charbroil bullet smoker for about 5 years, and will be using it on Saturday to smoke a 6 bone prime rib. I love using it but the problem I have is the element will only get to about 200F and I have to finish things off on my Weber gas grill. I think I'm going to ask Santa for a CS Smoker and here is the question: I need to be able to move it from home to cabin in the back of an SUV. Can I pick it up myself or is it a two man lift? Thanks and thanks for the great infor on the forum posts.

Well The Hulk would not have a problem picking up 133 lbs and putting it gently into the back of a SUV by himself Big Grin If you were to check the specs on the CS homepage you would see the 08 is 24 inches high with a shipping weight of 88 lbs. vs a 50 which is 36.25 inches high a shipping weight of 133 lbs. Either way you cannot go wrong with a CS. However every guy knows that bigger is better Wink
I have the smokette, it is easy to pick up and move. I dont think the additional 60-70 lbs for the 50/55 would be a problem. you can wheel it to your truck, they are easy to get a-hold of. Just dont twist and try to throw it around. Unless you are a long term couch potato, I dont think youd have any problem. You will know you've got a-hold of something.
hulk,

The only difference with shipping weight for the 50/55 is the packing material and the fact that all of the racks, rib hooks, etc. are all loaded in and included. If trying to load into an SUV, one would assume you would do so empty. Even so, the empty weight has got to be close to 120 lbs. and given the physical size of the 50/55 it would be difficult for one person.
