Fellow BBQR's
I'm in the market for a new pellet grill and need help. As a current owner of a Cookshack smoker I knew that the pg1000 was an option. After doing some research I've come across the Memphis Pro & MAK 2 Star General which I feel are all worthy options. I keep leaning towards the MAK due to accessories and options but its not my favorite appearance wise (not sure why that matters). As a loyal Cookshack owner and guest reader to the forum I felt it was necessary to join the forum and post a message in an effort for the members to persuade me towards buying the pg1000 or supporting me in my choice. This would be for my basic grilling needs (steak, chicken, burgers) and the occasional pizza but a definite option for when I want to smoke as well.

Help Please,
Eddie

Hey Smokin Okie,
I'm a huge fan and have read many of your posts and recipes. About the MAK I like the fact that it can be easily used as a full grill. Accessories such as multi probes, full second shelf, remote use and the griddle options. Cleaning also looks like a breeze, all of the 304 stainless steel parts right down to the removable stainless fire pot and a pellet dump if I want to swap flavors.

Whatever advice you give me will be greatly appreciated. I just want to get right pellet grill for me.

Eddie
Good Point Cook.

It's an apple and oranges thing Eddie. I've not cooked on a MAK, so I won't guess an answer for you.

The FEPG are what I describe as combo units. The "direct" side is small but works great. The insulation is not to be taken lightly as it really help with pellet consumption. Like when I crank it to 600 for pizza. I put the pizza stone on the right side.

I do have the CB 36" version an love it for grilling. I'm spoiled, I have the CB, the FEPG1000 and two FE's on the deck (I'd point to the photos but people hate it when I show off the BBQ Deck) Wink

Guess it's Deck Envy.

We'll help, but the hard part is finding someone who's used them both.
