After years of smoke and cords of wood, the Amerique has proven to be a remarkable tool. Now I would love to try some new ideas. I have successfully served smoked pork butt over French lentils for a twist on the rolls and coleslaw, but now I want to continue the idea. Anybody got an idea on some other options for side dishes? I don't want to change the world, but I would love to break up the slaw and tatters tradition.

Slaw and tatters are kind of standard picnic fare, but if you stop thinking about ribs and BBQ as picnic food, a lot of things will come to mind.

Get a good vegetarian cookbook and start playing around with recipes.

Smoked and curried mashed cauliflower, smoked baby red potatoes with bacon, sour cream and cheese sauce, baked asparagus with chopped smoked hard boiled eggs, etc. Pretty much anything you'd eat with other foods can be a side for your smoked meats.
