My relatives love their Cookshack smokettes and convinced me to order one. They both use their smoketes inside their garagages and just open their side garage doors while smoking. I can either put my smokete in the garage or on my covered patio. The following questions come to mind:

1. Is it safe having the smokette in the garage when a gas furnace is located in the garage (furnace located in garage closet near exterior side door)?

2. How well does the smokette tolerate being in the outside Oklahoma winter air (located on covered patio in my case).

Just trying to figure out the optimal place to locate the new smoker.

thanks!

Welcome to the forum and the CS world.

Both questions - either way should not be a problem. Like Qnorth, I am in Michigan and have used mine both in the garage and out in the open including in a xmas eve snow storm at 10 degrees with a windchill of 10 below!!!

So take your choice and enjoy. Like said in previous posts, you want to keep water from going down the vent hole and from the electric components during a smoke. Get the cover for when it is not in use. Enjoy Big Grin
I built a small shed to keep my 008 in and it stays on my uncovered deck year round. I keep it in the shed even when cooking. I live in KC, MO. I talked to a guy at Cabelas where I bought mine and he keeps his in a Rubbermaid container even when cooking and cooks year round. The important thing is to keep water out of the electronics and vent hole.
