I saw on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives where one was using coffee beans in the smoke box as a smoking flavor instead of wood. Or maybe along with wood. I was also wondering if using garlic, rosemary, corn cobs etc, might flavor the smoker in an odd way, Any comments.

Cobs was a favorite years ago when we lived in corn country, bacon and cheese, mild not too harsh. Just haven’t taken the time to dry cobs lately. At present I am experimenting with tea leaves. Will post results in time.

You can google corn cob smoking and see a number of uses for light ,sweet,smoke.

Some folks use some rosemary and garlic in foil pouches along with some wood and like the results.

Try them out and see if it is really something that you notice,or good,or bad.

Yardbirds are cheap and fast and an easy test of most anything.

I've used wild grapevines, but I guess that would be classified as wood...

Gives a tangy smoke flavor...good with chicken.
