My Amerique (4 years old) is causing my outlet to short out. I tried several outlets and the same thing happens. I emailed customer service and was told that it's likely a heating element issue with the replacement part at $64. So, before I buy the part, I thought that I'd take out the existing element and see if 1) removing and replacing would solve the problem (hope srpings eternal), and 2) confirm that I can remove and replace it myself. Unfortunately, I can't seem to remove it, and before bugging CS again, I thought I'd see if anyone knows how to do this. Also, any other suggestions on what may be causing this problem?

Thanks.

Let me be the FIRST to encourage you to bother CS service again. They will set on their nickle for hrs,and talk even a klutzt like me thru the process-if rarely needed..

First, they had to describe the screwdriver, and then the small pliers, and then we were rolling to a quick finish. Roll Eyes

That is what the company is famous for-trust me it works. Big Grin
