It's not rinky, dinky. LOL. Knowing how they make that Stainless Stell smoker, it's anything but rinky.

It's MADE to leak smoke so that as the amount of seasoning increases, it makes for a tighter seal. After a number of uses, the amount of smoke disappears to maybe a wisp. Years ago they tried to manufacture to such tight tolerances, but they had different issues with the door.

How long have you had it and how many hours have you smoked?

It's a smoker, it smokes. Any smoke escaping won't effect the amount on your food. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you have something such as a warped door (saw that once from someone putting too much weight on the door)
After almost two years, my 008 still leaks a little.. but, it doesn't affect the smoke. I was also concerned about the leak when I first got it.. but, this box holds so much moisture that, in my opinion, the leak is welcome.

Also, after using other smokers.. sheesh, the amount of smoke coming out of those chimneys is unbelievable compared to the CS.
I know I've got over 100 hours of smoking time already and mine still has smoke coming out expecially during the first hour when there is a lot of wood in the box. This is not a problem. Yes there is some heat that escapes and some moisture but it all works and was intended to work that way as far as I'm concerned.

Okay, the answer so far is: live with it, I have had my 009 for a week an have used it four times.

i have it located in my 10'X10' concrete block smoke house where I am presently building my wood burning Bread baking oven. I plan to put a residential range hood above the CS to remove some smoke from the room. but my main concern was heat loss, since the smokettE is a low Powered oven.I have enjoyed my bbq from the CS so farandwe'll see what the future brings. I am a retired electricalengineer and all my life it seems that when I see something that doesn't look quite right I naturally see if I can fix it.And I probably will make this better too! That's life at 70.LOL!! Thanks for the replys.
