Try various rubs. Cookshack rub is great, so is Atkins dry rub. I smoke b'backs all the time, pull the membrane, use a dry rub, put the ribs in the fridge for at least several hours, overnight is better, let them come to room temp and put them in my AmeriQue at 225* for 4 hours. They are always great. Good luck!
