I was just preparing to brine a turkey and discovered that I was out of all the proper ingredients. Since I live 20 miles out of the nearest town I don't want to make a special trip. Would it be appropriate if I just used Solar Salt from my water softener to create the brine. Better yet could I just place the turkey into the softener for the appropriate amount of time?
