fedex called and my amerique should be delivered tomorrow.

some questions i probably should have asked earlier:

1) does the amerique come with this cool decal??

2) when in probe mode, does the lcd display show the current temperature of the meat probe??

3) my backup generator has been clocked at reapplying power at 10 seconds. will the amerique keep cooking or will it shutdown??

The current Amerique SM066 looks different that the picture.

No Decal. Same size. One vent hole on top as opposed to two shown in picture. The top is flat with a new smaller hard vinyl/plastic controller box that is narrower than the top of the smoker.

Not sure, but I think the newer ones default to OFF on power loss. If I unplug mine for a second and then back in, its OFF. I have to turn it back on and press start again.

You will love the Amerique, it's built like a TANK!!! Yep, the beagle says "all leftovers are MINE!".
thanks for all the replies.

the amerique is seasoning right now on the patio for another couple of hours. i would have loved the decal. really reminds me of the 70's.

so far, experienced two minor problems

1) i got the cart stand with it, and one of the threaded holes for the casters had just enough slag that i couldn't get the caster on. my hammer and screwdriver didn't even come close to knocking it off. luckily, i was able to grind it off with the dremel tool that my wife had 'borrowed' some time back for her jewelry projects.

2) they've really got to update the included manual. i ended up calling bill at CS because i couldn't get it to turn on. the "START" button is totally not mentioned in the manual.

hopefully those are the only two hickups!! the hickory smoke smells great. i've got a couple of PB's planned for dinner w/ friends on saturday.

definitely looking forward to not worrying about tweaking the fire on overnight cooks!!
Congrats on the new smoker, a very wise investment.

On that manual, most of the experienced cooks would tell you to come to the CS forum for some free advice. This is the place that I have learned that has offered some of the BEST advice on cooking on a CS.

When we get someone asking for advice over our heads, we look toward Smokin' and Tom for the answers, and yes, if all else fails we ask the fine folks at CS. You have already found out that they speak English and are very knowledgeable.

Let the smoking begin.
loving the amerique so far!!

after doing a pulled pork and ribs, i figured out that the miniscule amount of grease in the drip pan was because my patio wasn't level front to back, so the grease was pooling at the back instead of draining. a spare brick levelled things out perfectly.

is the hold temperature settable??

i was trying out the short rib recipe and had to step out. in this case, i would have liked to set a hold temperature of 160F.

Call CS and tell them. I've mentioned it to them, but they don't listen to me Big Grin

They will to customers.
