Black vs Stainless

I too was ready to pull the trigger on an 009 when the new models came out. Now I have a delima, should I go with the Essential or the Elite. I'd love to have stainless but the price of the powder coat is much more in line with my budget. I can live without the meat probe.

My question is, how well do the powder coated units hold up to the ravages of time as compared to the stainless versions.

I don't think you'll have a problem with the powder coat. I have the SmokinTex (a CS knock-off) with powder coat. It sits outdoors on a non enclosed patio with roof overhead and I've never had any problems. I've smoked in temps as high as 107* and as low as 14*. I do use a cover.

Anyway, just my opinion, but you'll do fine with the powder coat.

You can't get a 009 anymore? I mean I know they (CS) doesn't advertise them, but did you call to see if they still have any 009's left. I got mine a couple of weeks ago, just beofre the change was made. They might still have some, with the new models, some folks have backed out on theirs, 008/009, for one of the newer models. Just my 2 cents.
