Can anyone please tell me the capacity of the model 8 or 9 smokette? I have been trying to find any information, but the store information has nothing. Only has info on the bigger units. I wan't to buy one but not until I find out the information. I don't want to over buy, nor under buy. Thanks in advance for any information.

Mornin' AZ, and welcome.

Most folks will suggest you buy as big as you need and then go one size bigger.

Donna and the staff are refiguring volumes with some experiments at the plant.

I pushed my Smokette well past their proposed volumes.

They are conservative and let us be pleasantly suprised.

They used to suggest 22lbs. for the 008/009,I believe.

If you are a little creative, most of the folks seem to get about five slabs of loinbacks.

A 9-10 lb. packer brisket will fit about right on each shelf, but many use larger ones and bend the point.

It will shrink as it cooks.

If you have sorta flat pork butts, you can get a couple average size ones on each of the three racks.

Cooking legs and thighs, you get about 10 pieces on each rack.

Many folks cook butts and briskets overnight and do other meats during the day, when they are cooking a bunch.

Some folks suggest that for the price of a larger unit, you could buy two smokettes.

This allows you to cook different meats at different times and temperatures.

Hope this helps a little.
