Has anyone installed a smoker inside with a direct connect to the 5" flue to vent? Just installed 2 units and having trouble with smoke indie the pace it appears they flue is not large enough o he fans too small
It will draw too much air if you hook it up to a powered vent, contact cook shack and they can tell you how you have to set it up. It's meant to be set up under a commercial vent hood for indoor installs. I assume you have an FEC smoker. Wayne B
Thanks Wayne, the power exhaust was the suggestion of Cook Shack. Our mechanical contractor had the same concern about introducing too much air and changing the operation of the unit. I believe that Cook Shack told our client that you can hook-up the flue to direct vent in lieu of the exhaust hood. I do not know if there is a similar install with these units. Cook Shack suggested we extend the flue on the roof, which we have done. The tiny fans within the unit are way too small to handle the amount exhaust. Thanks again
There is an inline vent fan Cookshack recommends, but I "think" there is an air gap in the vent line when this is installed. I could be talking out my butt though and be total wrong about how the power vent works I did read a post on here that had a link to the vent fan Cookshack recommends, wish I had bookmarked the link.
You may try doing a search in the professional only forum here, think it was in that forum.
Don't know about your neck of the woods but the fire marshal and health dept. went ballistic when we attempted to do a direct connect. We had to move all smokers under our hoods to pass inspection!
