I have a model 009. I am thinking of making a home for it outside. "It's own home" Woodworking is a hobby of mine and I would like you great Cookshack owners see the progress along the way of its new address. If SmokinOkie could tell me how to send in Jpegs you too could be part of the move. It has got to have it's own home out of the garage. Its own classic condo

DSW,

That's great news, sir. I'd love to see some pictures of that project.

If your internet provider gives you server space (web space), you can put the pictures on your server, and then you can reference them here using the forum's UBB code and the forum's software will allow a browser to display the image. I know it sounds like mumbo jumbo, but it really is easy.

First thing is to get the picture from your computer to the server, so it is available even if you are not online. I always use a file transfer protocol (FTP) program to do this. Smart FTP is a good one, and you can download it free at CNET.com or download.com. Smart FTP offers you an interface similar to windows so you can drag and drop your pictures from your computer to your webspace.

Your internet provider will usually give you space that can be accessed in a manner similar to this:

You'll be a username with space under a domain that serves many members, so it might read something like: http://www.users.whee.net/membername

"membername" would be your username recognized by the ISP. This would also be the login name for FTP purposes. To FTP files to this directory, you'll probably also have to provide the server your password, which is usually your account password. You'll type this password into the FTP connection page. You'll see the password blank.

Hit connect on your FTP software interface. Now you can grab files from your computer, and drop them into your home directory. A file then can be referenced in HTML so a browser can display it.

Your jpeg file would look something like this:

http://www.users.whee.net/membername/cookshackcondo.jpg

To reference that file, you would UBB code like this:

[*img]http://www.users.whee.net/membername/cookshackcondo.jpg[*/img] (asterisks keep code from looking for real file).

Here's a real example: The cookshack logo on the page is a file on a server somewhere. I can reference here and make it appear, just as you could with your pictures on your server. I will use: [*img] ]http://www.cookshack.com/images/BBQflame.gif[*/img]

I found that images information by right clicking on it, and then looking at its properties. I could copy its properties and make them part of the UBB code.

So there is the process, the most important thing is to get your pictures on a server. You can do this yourself if you are so inclined, and it really is very easy, although I know it seems a little complicated.

Good luck with that cookshack condo, and by all means, post the pics!

Thanks for jumping in Mark, but let me handle this, I have a less complicated way of doing this.

In fact, it's easy. Email me, if they're digital. If not, email me and I'll scan them in.

You can post your pictures somewhere on the internet, but the problem with that is that this forum will always be around Smiler but your server may not be. I do this because, as you may notice, there are a few posts from last year that have blank images. That's because whereever they posted their photo's is no longer live.

The easier thing to do is to email them to me and I'll provide a URL to let you know the info to post. I put the images on the CS server and they stay with this post for the life of the forum.

Now if you want to do it Mark's way, that's okay also. Or build your own website, that's cool too.

And the UBB code mark mentions is even more simple, when you're typing in your Post to a message, look below the window, there are "Instant UBB Code" buttons, just click on them, a pop-up window opens and you enter the code.

And...I have to throw this in. I posted something about this, only 10 entries below this one Big Grin

Plans have changed. Not enough time to get started for awhile. If anyone is interested in downloading the plans for the cookshack condo you can get it here.. http://www.woodmagazine.com/members/downplan.html

Becoming a member is free and there is a new plan every month. By adjusting the shelve spacing the cookshack should go right in the Mini Garden Shed. If anyone can get started before me let me now how it is coming. The plan will only be available until the end of the month for free. Wink
