3 weeks ago I didn't even know what a cookshack smoker was. Now I have one of my very own! My 009 arrived yesterday (woohoo!). Only 3 days since I ordered. The wife had the fridge loaded with meat in anticipation of it's arrival.
Just want to let the faithful members of this forum know, that you played a major role in my decision to buy CS. I had originally done a search to find info on a smokin tex, and stumbled on this forum. I have spent many hours studying the posts, and have gained much useful knowledge. I figured any kind of cookin' tool that has this kind of following must be worth a try (the $44 dollars off and the free cover offer didn't hurt either). Anyway, I ordered.
I put in 4oz of hickory last night and set the temp on 250 all night (8hrs).
I just put in 2 slabs of baby backs (2# each) and set the temp to 225. 2 oz of hickory at 4:45pm. I am hoping that they will be done in time to put a butt in before bedtime.
I think I read somewhere on the forum that someone had a bbq log in excel. I sure would like a copy to get this thing started right.
Sorry for the length of this, I guess the excitement of the "first time" has me consumed.....or maybe it's the smell of those ribs.......
