I put two butts in my cookshack smoker at 10 am, the internal temp was 45 at the time. I left to go pick up my son from college and when I returned at 4:30 I noticed that there was no smoke coming out. The gfi on the outlet went off and I had no power to the smoker. The internal temp was 62 at that time. After resetting the gfi the smoker turned on. Is the butt ok to keep smoking or is the meat shot?

Why are you smoking pork, Beef? Smiler My bad, sometimes I just can’t help myself Red Face

It is not uncommon for a new Cookshack to trip a CGFI. There are many posts by first-timers about it.

Once the smoker has been seasoned it will run on a CGFI without an issue.

I would have to agree with the other cooks. It’s a small price to pay, but I hope you pitched your butts and started over
