Does more meat equal more wood?

I would not use more wood for ribs I use 2 to 3 chunks ( the they are small ) remember too much wood will make it taste bitter

Thank you so much. As you can probably tell, I am a newbie. I have had good results before with 2 chunks of apple wood. Any other suggestions?

Apple gives a nice flavor. I like mixing pecan with oak for ribs too (and I always use more wood than I should, from my charcol days).

I think 2 or 3 chunks would be too much. 1 chunk smokes up a full load of ribs plenty in my Smokette.

I have to agree with my neighbor, GLH. Start low on the wood and work your way up. Keep good notes. Ribs, especially B'Backs, are too expensive to experiment on. My first smoke was exactly like yours. I loaded er up with too much wood and the ribs were less than desirable, almost inedibly bitter!

Experiment to the side of caution & have fun!

If the smoke was OK on the four half slabs I would use the same amount for the eight half slabs
